Mrs. Alice Marie Blackwell, 68, of Monticello, Mississippi passed away on May 24, 2025. Alice was born June 29, 1956 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Clay and Pauline Darby Upton.

Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 1:00 PM until funeral services at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will follow in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery. Bro. Tyler Bridge will be officiating with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Blackwell was a dedicated teacher for 26 ½ years; 24 ½ of those years were spent in Lawrence County public schools. Educating her students whom she affectionately referred to as "her babies" was her passion. She was also a member of Pleasant Grove Church.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Brenda Simoneaux, Shirley Aucoin, Norma Sue Ferrier and Nancy Thomas.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Johnnie Michael Blackwell; and son, Steven Michael Blackwell (Elisabeth) of Jackson, MS; two brothers, David Wesley Upton and Clay Crockett Upton, Jr.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
